Marriage is under attack now more than ever from the secular culture. But what's going on at the Synod on the Family - and what's at stake? Can communion be offered to those who are divorced and remaried? Is the Church Herself divided on this issue? You don't want to miss this discussion on the nature of marriage, the question of communion, and the current synod.

Drinks start at 7. Event open to anyone age 18 to 39. As always, friends are welcome, Catholic or not. Thanks to The Monk's Cellar Brewery & Public House for their great food, drink, and hospitality.

N/B - showing up before 7 is a great way to ensure yourself a seat.

Here's the Facebook Invite.

Fr. Zachary J. Akers is the fourth of six children born into a very Catholic family in Woodbridge, Virginia. He was very fortunate to attend Catholic schools for all of his academic formation– St. Thomas Aquinas Regional School (Nashville Dominicans), Seton High School, with Bachelor of Arts from Christendom College (Front Royal, VA). He is grateful to God for the grace of a priestly vocation, which was certainly fostered by loving and pious parents, very supportive siblings, good priestly examples, and a very active involvement in parish life as an altar server and member of the parish choir. This love for liturgy and sacred music continued throughout college years and afterwards, thereby also preparing a firm groundwork for his future priestly ministry. His recreational interests are playing a variety of sports and several instruments.

Fr. Akers was ordained to the priesthood in June 2014, and is assigned at St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish in Sacramento.
